Why local flowers
Why choose local flowers for your wedding
Most flowers sold in the US are flown in from thousands of miles away. Choosing flowers grown on Orcas Island means your money supports a small farm and a community, and your wedding carries a little less weight on the planet.
The human side
When you book local, your investment stays on the island: with a family farm, a local designer and the people who grow, cut and arrange your flowers. Imported flowers often pass through long supply chains where growers and farm workers can face low wages, long hours and heavy chemical exposure. Here, you can meet the people who grew your flowers and see the field they came from.
The environmental side
Imported blooms travel by plane and refrigerated truck, and are often grown with pesticides and heavy water use. Our flowers are grown without pesticides, cut the week of your wedding and never shipped across a continent, so they are fresher, last longer and carry a much smaller carbon footprint. Growing locally also supports pollinators and healthy soil right here on the island.
We are a foam-free florist
Floral foam is a single-use plastic that breaks into microplastics and never fully goes away. We don’t use it. Instead we design with reusable mechanics like chicken wire, pin frogs, glass and ceramic vessels, so your florals are as kind to the earth as they are beautiful.
Frequently asked
Wedding questions
Do you offer wedding florals?
Yes we do, in collaboration with local designer Whitney Page. Our seasonal wedding florals reflect the beauty of Orcas Island. Send an inquiry to discuss!
Can I choose specific varieties for my bulk buckets?
Bulk buckets are filled with the best from our field the week of your wedding, so we can’t guarantee varieties — but we do consider colour requests when harvesting.
Can I still book wedding flowers if Google says the farm is closed?
Yes. Wedding and event design runs year-round by appointment — send an inquiry any time.
